The department was established in the year 1964.Some of the best Botanists at the time have served the department. Dr G.R. Kantharaj, known as walking encyclopaedia,a very resourceful person and enthusiastic to teach & learn. Dr H Gokul our former HOD, has received many awards in the field of Botanical Sciences.

Microbiology, Cytology, Plant Anatomy, Plant Histology, Molecular Biology, Plant Physiology, Taxonomy, Genetics & Plant breeding.
